The Department of Architecture proudly presents two exceptional exhibitions that highlight the creativity, excellence, and legacy of FIU’s architecture community.
A Fascination with Forms: The Architecture of Jesús & Ana Tenreiro
In collaboration with Fundación Espacio, this exhibition explores the profound work of renowned Venezuelan architects Jesús and Ana Tenreiro. Spanning three decades of practice (1963–1994), the show features nine built and unbuilt projects, including scale models crafted by Fundación Espacio members and FIU architecture students. Digital drawings, photographs, and archival materials offer a glimpse into the Tenreiros’ humanistic approach to architecture, philosophy, education, music, and poetry. Curated by Rafael Urbina, the exhibition also showcases a timeline of hand drawings and sketches, reflecting their thoughtful design process.
Winners! AIA Florida & Miami Design Awards 2024
This exhibition celebrates the remarkable achievements of eleven students, eight alumni, four scholarship recipients, and five faculty members who were recognized at the 2024 AIA Florida and AIA Miami Design Awards. The showcase highlights a range of projects from Spring 2023 to Summer 2024, including award-winning research, drawings, renderings, and photographs. Notably, two alumni received the prestigious AIA Florida Photographer of the Year award in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, our students won several diversity scholarships, WIA grants, and faculty honors such as Architect of the Year, Sustainable Design Architect, and Hall of Fame. This exhibition celebrates the dedication and success of our FIU community in achieving these prestigious awards.
