Congratulations to Isabella Baena, a third-year student in FIU’s Accelerated Master’s Program in Architecture, on receiving the Jerry A. Tishman Scholarship from Palm Beach Preservation.
Born and raised in Miami, Isabella is passionate about historic preservation and sustainable design, exploring how architecture fosters connection, movement, and shared experience within built environments. Reflecting on her approach to design, Isabella shares,

“Personally, I bring dedication, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to everything I do, always striving to grow as both a student and an emerging professional in the field.”

At the FIU School of Architecture and throughout the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA), we place a high value on environmental resilience, a principle that permeates our studios, research, and community engagement. Our programs challenge students to create innovative, sustainable solutions through design while encouraging them to explore their creativity and expand the boundaries of architectural thinking.
This scholarship supports students who share a deep commitment to preserving architectural heritage while shaping a more sustainable future.
Congratulations, Isabella, on this well-deserved achievement!
