Furniture by Architects opened on October 11th at the College of Architecture + the Arts’ Miami Beach Urban Studios. The exhibition features the work of nine different architects and firms, some of which include FIU professors and students. Alumnus and current MAA student Alan D’Amore exhibits as D’Amore Workshop, and MAA student and Adjunct Professor Mauricio Gonzalez along with alumna Kaelsie Saravia exhibit as Surface Workshop. Also featured in the show are CARTA faculty members: Assistant Professor Nick Gelpi, Instructor and Fabrication Lab Manager Eric Peterson, and Chair of Landscape Architecture Roberto Rovira.

CARTA instructor Nikolay Nedev who co-manages the firm NC-office, curated Furniture by Architects. “I find that a lot of architects are interested in furniture,” said Nedev. He explained how architects have a unique take on furniture construction:“[architects think] a little bit beyond the pragmatic and try to really express the connections and the joinery.”
