National Conference: Explores Women in Communication: Breaking the Barriers

Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus, North Miami,  April 20, 2017

The Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication at Florida International University’s School of Communication, Architecture and the Arts invites you to the center’s Second Annual Conference, “Women in Communication: Breaking the Barriers.”

This national one-day conference on April 20, 2017, will be keynoted in the morning by Anne Vasquez, chief digital officer of tronc, Inc., formerly Tribune Publishing, and former managing editor of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, which won a Pulitzer Prize under her leadership.

It is a decades-long discussion that even now has reached no consensus or conclusion: Where are women in the ranks of communication professions? If they are not leading, where are they and what are they doing?

The day’s events will bring together industry professionals and scholars from around the country.  Conference participants will explore the role of women in leadership positions in the fields of advertising, broadcasting, digital media, newspaper, public relations and magazines.

For further information, see conference brochure or contact Lillian Anne Abreu, program officer, at labreu@fiu.edu, 305-919-4065.
