Welcome to Spring 2020 – From Dean Brian Schriner

Dear College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA) Students,

On behalf of the CARTA faculty and staff, Happy New Year and Welcome Back! We hope you had an enjoyable break.

To get your Spring semester off to a good start and ensure you are on track for a timely graduation, please take a moment to visit my.fiu.eduThere you can review your personal academic advisor, your class schedule, your Panther Degree Audit (PDA), your unofficial transcripts, the University Course Catalog and Academic Calendar, and any university financial assistance you may be receiving. If you have not done so already, schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to review your progress towards your degree. Your assigned academic advisor is a valuable source of information.

Also, please take a moment to review all the career, cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities offered on the College’s homepage, carta.fiu.edu. Here you can learn more about internships, employment, and scholarship opportunities; Career Fairs; and a listing of over 100 CARTA events offered on the Modesto Maidique Campus (MMC), the Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC), and the College’s 420 Lincoln Road location, CARTA | Miami Beach Urban Studios (MBUS). You will also find links to the College’s and the Departments’ social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn), the Department of Journalism + Media’s South Florida Media Network, and to CARTANews — our very own digital publication highlighting the activities and accomplishments of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

This past year was an exciting one for CARTA students, faculty, and staff. Please take a minute to watch this video, produced by Jordan Cox, one of our amazing communication students, and accompanying music by our very own School of Music Marching Band, highlighting some of the many exciting moments which made 2019 a memorable year!

We, like you, are looking forward to Spring 2020!

Go Panthers!

Brian Schriner
