Virtuoso Concert Organist Marilyn Keiser Featured At Annual Wertheim Showcase

Marilyn Keiser is legendary in the American organ world and she’s coming to the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center Concert Hall this coming Sunday, April 24th at 3pm for the Annual Wertheim Showcase.

Ms. Keiser is Chancellor’s Professor of Music Emeritus at Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, Bloomington, where she taught courses in sacred music and applied music and applied organ for 25 years.

She has appeared throughout the U.S. in concerts sponsored by churches, colleges, and chapters of the American Guild of Organists as well as playing internationally, and has been heard in performance on NPR. In May 1995, she was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters (honoris causa) from Virginia Theological Seminary.

She will perform works by Bach, Mendelssohn, and the Phoenix Processional by Dan Locklair on the performing arts center’s crown jewel, the Sydell Ida Wertheim Organ. It is the largest in Miami-Dade County and one of the most technologically advanced in the country. It features a solid-oak console with four manual keyboards and a pedal clavier that controls its 4,255 pipes.

The performance is a collaboration between the Miami Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the FIU School of Music.
