FEAST Miami is a series of vegan pop-up dinners at art venues to financially support new and emerging creative projects. Artists and small arts organizations are invited to present a simple proposal for an art project, and diners vote for the project to be funded. Projects should be innovative, feasible and impact the community. Dinners are held at various art venues throughout South Florida. The meals are healthfully prepared with organic and locally sourced foods by Chef Loren Pulitzer. FEAST Miami is made possible through the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation through the Knight Arts Challenge. (Source: FEAST Miami)
Bastidas will be presenting Dwelling Projects as a platform for “Miami-based artists to connect directly to Latin America and the Caribbean by taking advantage of Miami’s geographical location and local established diaspora,” as explained by Bastidas. “The platform provides artists and cultural developers with tools to extend [beyond] our geographical location by researching, connecting, traveling and bringing back what they experience.” Should Dwelling Projects be chosen as winner, the ensuing funds will be contributed towards the next residency program in Mexico City. Additionally, a printed index will be created to help Miami artists navigate Latin American art spaces and connect specifically to projects and artists that are relevant to Miami’s art scene.
FEAST Miami’s 3rd dinner will take place on Sunday, February 1st, 2015 at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Ticket can be purchased by clicking here.
