Soccer Forever: Polish Contemporary Art and the National Game

 

On Friday, January 18, 2013, Przemyslaw Strozek presented a lecture on Polish contemporary art and soccer at the Steve and Dorothea Green Library. The lecture is part of the Blanka Rosenstiel Lecture Series on Poland by the European Studies Program of the FIU School of International and Public Affairs.

Dr. Przemyslaw Strozek completed an MA at the University of Warsaw (Polish Studies), an MA at Theatre Academy in Warsaw (Theatre Studies) and PHD at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. He is also a lecturer at Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (Graphic Design Faculty), a lecturer at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw (Cultural Studies) and a 2012/2013 Fullbright Visiting Scholar at The University of Georgia (Modernist Studies).

Strozek is a member of the European Network for Avant-garde and Modernist Studies and focuses his research on Avant-Garde and popular culture. He has authored several studies on Avant-garde, Polish modern and contemporary art and the relationships between soccer and visual culture.

He will be one of the speakers at the pending Football 150 Conference in the National Museum of Football in Manchester (UK), which celebrates the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Football Association.
