Rhetorical Studies Minor

Our minor in Rhetorical Communication helps students develop insight into persuasive techniques in debate and public presentations, as well as foster an understanding of how oral arguments are formed and their influence on human behavior. Students consider the classical foundations of rhetoric and critically evaluate persuasive messages from a variety of perspectives.  Our program emphasizes the importance of becoming effective producers of oral communication, as well as critical consumers.

The minor consists of 15 credits, and at least 12 of those must be completed at Florida International University. A grade of C or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor.
