LBGTQA Exhibit: Open call to artists

FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts’ Miami Beach Urban Studios (MBUS)  is having an open call to student artists. FIU’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), in collaboration with the School of Art and Art History, will be holding a student exhibition at the beginning of June at MBUS.

The show will center around lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, queer/questioning, and alliance (LGBTQA) lived experiences and/or culture and subjectivities. At present, a narrower framework for curating the show has not been established, therefore the scope of the work that can be considered is quite broad. A more concentrated theme for the show will be made upon the jurying of the submitted works.

This is a great opportunity for all students interested in art and those who are part of the LBGTQA community to exhibit their artwork publicly.

Please send an email to irola001@fiu.edu with your attached image or video files as well as a preliminary artist statement discussing the relevance of the work. Portfolios on websites and youtube/vimeo channels are also acceptable for submission. Artists who wish to participate and remain publicly anonymous for personal reasons are also encouraged to submit work for this exhibition.

Detailed proposals, including a preliminary artist statement are required for performances and installations. Visit MBUS for information concerning gallery hours to make a visit to prepare for such a proposal. There is no limit to the amount fo work one may submit; however, developed, cohesive bodies of work are preferred over a sample of various themes of artwork. Contact Ian Roland at irola001@fiu.edu or call 305-924-1744 for more information.
