On Saturday, May 3rd, Gianna DiBartolomeo (BFA ’07) and Ana Garcia (BFA ’07) will open ‘Wild and Free’ at Frameworks.
The following statement encapsulates the new exhibition.
Gianna DiBartolomeo is a local artist, born and raised in Miami. Ms. DiBartolomeo enjoys the process of making her work and believes all the steps involved in making a piece are equally important as the final piece itself. A uniting theme in Ms. DiBartolomeo’s work is repetition – such as thousands of strokes or innumerable paint drops. Ms. DiBartolomeo finds that the tedious and repetitious processes stimulate her analytical mind with each step of the process garnering new discoveries along the way.
Ana Garcia is also a local artist from Miami. Ms. Garcia loves photographing nature, landscapes, sunsets, sunrises, beaches, and much more. Ms. Garcia experiences peace being surrounded by nature. Ms. Garcia feels nature is so beautiful and that everyone should see the beauty in nature so she captures it with her photography. Ms. Garcia believes South Florida has so much to see on a daily basis that one could miss as life passes them by. Her photography helps capture those places and moments in time.
Ms. DiBartolomeo and Ms. Garcia join forces in Wild & Free in an effort to capture the moment. Ms. DiBartolomeo’s latest drawing series “Somewhere in Between” emphasizes that life moves at a rapid pace and to enjoy the journey while Ms. Garcia’s photos capture that serene moment when all is right.
The opening reception for ‘Wild and Free’ will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 from 6PM-8PM at Frameworks: 3196 Commodore Plaza, Coconut Grove, Florida 33133. Free and open to the public.
