Fourteen Students Inducted into Communication Honor Society

Fourteen students achieved a significant and memorable milestone in their academic journeys on March 19, 2015 when they were inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the honor society for Communication Arts. The ceremony, held in front of their proud parents and relatives, included the traditional lighting of the candles and was accompanied by the presentation of a recognition pin and an honor cord which is customarily worn as part of the regalia at graduation. Membership into the Alpha Beta Psi chapter of Lambda Pi Eta at FIU is granted to students that have shown perseverance and dedication in their academic studies, while maintaining a minimum cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0, and a 3.5 in their field of Communication Arts.

Lambda Pi Eta, founded in 1985, has over 18,000 members in nearly 400 colleges and universities worldwide. Lambda Pi Eta represents what Aristotle saw as the three ingredients of persuasion: Logos (Lambda) meaning logic, Pathos (Pi) relating to emotion, and Ethos (Eta) defined as character, credibility, and ethics.

Since 2013, FIU has hosted a university chapter of the honor society to recognize the achievements of its communication arts students. The honor society is sponsored by the National Communication Association and is an accredited member of the Association of College Honor Societies. Lambda Pi Eta members are undergraduate students who have achieved a high level of academic excellence in the communication field.

Congratulations to all new members!
