FIU’s Alpha Rho Chi chapter Attends National Convention

The 66th National Convention of the Alpha Rho Chi Fraternity will be taking place Thursday, March 21-24 in San Antonio, Texas. The FIU chapter will be represented by four of its 37 active members namely, Agustin Martins, Anica Lompre, Anna Drescher and Santiago Arroyave.

Alpha Rho Chi Fraternity is the only national co-ed professional-social fraternity for architecture and the allied arts. Accordingly to the fraternity’s website, Alpha Rho Chi “was established to encourage closer fellowship and a greater interest in the study of Architecture and the Allied Arts.”

The FIU Chapter, established in July 11, 2004, was named after Greek architect, Aelius Nicon. Members of the FIU chapter have been attending the National Convention annually since 2009. Currently, the fraternity’s Director for the southeast region is Kristen Argalas, alumni and adjunct professor at FIU, while the faculty advisor is, Malik Benjamin.

Membership to Alpha Rho Chi is acquired through the traditional fraternity template: rush, pledge, and initiation. Alpha Rho Chi is a brotherhood that works closely together, and has recently emerged as a strong force in the School of Architecture.
