FIU News: Students develop new strategies, designs for public art on campus

On January 17th, the Frost Art Museum held a Spring 2017 Public Art Charrette that brought together 38 students and eight faculty members from the College of Communication, Architecture + the Arts to develop new strategies and initiatives to promote public art on campus.

The Public Art Charrette, organized by FIU associate professors David Rifkind and Roberto Rovira, served as a way to promote students thinking outside of their own disciplines and increase student engagement and awareness with the arts.

Together, students from the departments of Art & Art History and Landscape Architecture + Environmental and Urban Design and Architecture, collaborated for three days to develop new strategies and designs for FIU’s public art collection and program while using different academic perspectives.
