Festival of the Trees Announces New Historic Location in the Miami Design District

The Festival of the Trees is a fundraising event coordinated by Florida International University’s Interior Architecture Department and its advisory board. Each year, South Florida’s architecture and design community demonstrates its support for quality interior architecture education through their annual participation in the Festival of the Trees event and auction. This holiday extravaganza has raised over $100,000 in funds that benefit FIU’s Interior Architecture Department and its talented students.

We are excited to announce that for its 29th year, the annual Festival of the Trees will take place in the Miami Design District, at the historic Moore Building (4040 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL).

The Moore Building was built in 1921 as the furniture showroom space for Moore and Sons. The truly unique building boasts four floors of arcaded spaces totaling more than 20,000 square feet. The soaring central atrium accommodates 4,400 people for receptions. On permanent display in the atrium is the site-specific installation “Elastika,” created by Iraqi-born London-based architect, Zaha Hadid, and commissioned by owner Craig Robins, president of Dacra. Together they wanted a design which compliments and at the same time contradicts the period in which the Moore Building was built. The Moore Building is Bridge House Events’s most well known venue. Thus far, the 29th annual Festival of the Trees has confirmed the involvement of 34 different trees. If you or your design firm is interested in submitting a tree, please contact the Committee Chair Lisette Boosooboy, lboosooboy@mcharry.com. This year, the trees displayed the annual event will also be especially displayed at Dadeland Mall for the duration of the holiday season.

Unique and beneficial, corporate and private sponsorships are still available for the 29th annual Festival of the Trees. For more information on how you can support the Festival of the Trees, please contact Committee Chair Lisette Boosooboy, lboosooboy@mcharry.com.
