Alumna Jillian Mayer Performs at MOCA North Miami

On October 9th, College of Architecture + the Arts alumna Jillian Mayer performed Landscape at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami. In her live work, Mayer addressed concerns about the modern, technological age. She used a wide range of media that include digital media, installation art, and drawing. Landscape coincides with an exhibition currently on display at MOCA called Love of Technology, a group show that examines the relationship between human beings and their machines.

Mayer graduated from the College of Architecture + the Arts in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her video “Scenic Jogging” was featured in the 2010 Guggenheim’s YouTube Play: “A Biennial of Creative Video.” She is also the 2013 Audience Choice winner of MOCA’S Optic Nerve Festival, and has just completed a fellowship at Sommerakademie at Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern, Switzerland. Currently, Mayer is exhibiting at the Talbot Rice Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland with There is No Rewind, and is in residence in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Elsewhere Museum under the National Endowment for the Arts’ Southern Constellations Fellowship Program.

Jillian Mayer performed Landscape on Wednesday, October 9th at 7PM, at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, Joan Lehman Building, 770 NE 125th Street, North Miami, Florida 33161. For more information, click here.
